Begin by choosing a cleanser appropriate for your skin type.  You may choose to use the same product at night or an alternative.  Choose a mild enough product for your skin type to avoid unwanted irritation. You can always add a scrub or exfoliant a few times a week if needed for more aggressive exfoliation. We recommend cleansing your skin twice daily to promote gentle exfoliation and remove bacteria and excess oil from your skin.

Apply an antioxidant in the morning after cleansing to retard ultraviolet damage and help with skin rejuvenation.  There are many products available and often this is a personal preference.  Vitamin C products are the most common, but there are many new alternatives.

Once you have applied your antioxidant, you may want to add a skin lightening agent if you have pigmentation problems or an agent for acne if needed.

The last step in the morning is to apply sun protection.  It is crucial to protect the skin every day from ultraviolet exposure.  Damage from ultraviolet radiation is cumulative and therefore, it is important to use good sun protection, preferably with a physical blocker such as titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. Mineral make-up applications give added protection.

The evening regimen is often more varied than the morning and sometimes it is useful to apply different products on alternate nights to maximize the skin rejuvenation potential.  Retinoid products such as Retin-A, Renova, or retinol creams are the gold standard in antiaging agents.  If you can tolerate a retinoid, you should incorporate it into your regimen, even if you only use it Monday, Wednesday & Friday. Add other antiaging products on the alternate nights if desired. Peptide products and growth factors are good choices.  You may also want to use an eye cream or a moisturizer. Remember to use any moisturizers and eye creams before the retinoids if you are using both types of products.
